Fears for Kurdish Iranians

Today I received news that the Iranian Guard has moved into Kurdish territories to crush the demostrators. They are demonstrating because one the guards murdered an activist, Shwana Sayyed Qadr, on July 9, 2005 in the town of Mahabad.

Mahabad is the capital of the short lived state of Kurdistan, so it also has special meaning. It was established by the Kurdish leader Mustafah Barzani in 1945. It has since become a symbol for Kurdish nationalism.

There are many cities in Iran that are protesting for freedom, but you will not hear of this. It extends from the north to the south of Iran. Kurdistan, Iran is having trouble over all the country.

The regime does not like any rumor or FACT to leak out about unrest in Iran. This may be one explanation why we do not hear about any such riots or peaceful protests. To read the whole story, read more here.

The Guardian has finally gotten involved. Maybe others will follow. Just don't expect CNN to be a part of it. Remember Eason Jordan? Enough said.
