Americans' Are Special People

We're irascible, we're stubborn, we're opinionated, we're naive, and we're the most generous people in the world. Not only do we rescue other countries from despots, but when someone needs help, we're right there to help them. Craig's List has needs I had never heard of, or would not have occured to me to offer! Cat sitting? Conservatives and liberals don't agree on much, but when it comes to helping hands, we all understand our fellow Americans need help. Even the ones we seem to love to hate get in the act! The IRS is allowing us to donate our vacation time, and corporations are getting into the act in any number of ways, with both cash and goods!

As I was surfing about the web this afternoon, I found kudos from Americans from an unlikely source. An Arab newspaper in London wrote an article which is posted at American Thinker, entitled "The United States: a good and honorable country".

"The United States managed to free many states from the clutches of communists, and with a few exceptions, rid the world of communism. In recent years it freed the state of Kuwait, handing it back to its own people and rulers. The same applies to Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. The United States had no designs on the riches of these countries. Indeed, if the United States was after the Kuwaiti oil, it would have not left it untouched as it did, furthermore it would have accepted Saddam Hussein’s tempting offer of oil privileges in return for non-interference in Kuwait."

[Note: If Arabs understand this, why can't the American left? Things that make me go "hmmmmmm?" about libs!]

Back on topic, I am prouder than ever to be an American, I just wish it didn't take a storm of biblical proportions to bring us back together! Oh, wait. I didn't count the congressional hearings on Judge Roberts, did I?
