"A judiciary independent of a king or executive alone, is a good thing; but independence of the will of the nation is a solecism, at least in a republican government." -- Thomas Jefferson (letter to Thomas Ritchie, 25 Dec. 1820)

Solecism: (sol'e*siz'm), n. [F. solecisme, fr. L. fr. Gr. soloikismos, deriv. of soloikos speaking incorrectly, from the corruption of the Attic dialect among the Athenian colonists of Soloi in Cilicia.] 1. An ungrammatical combination of words in a sentence; loosely, any minor blunder in speech. 2. A breach of etiquitte or decorum. Syn. Solecism, barbarism, impropriety. A solecism is a construction which violates the idiom of a language; a barbarism is a word or phrase not in accepted use; an impropriety is a word or phrase employed in a sense contrary to good usage.

I came upon a word I was unfamiliar with so I looked it up. I believe if I did not know this word, others may not, also. I will continue to do this, because I believe language is very important if we are to communicate.

Speaking of communicating, I believe the quote of the day hit the nail on the head. While the norm in a society may sometimes be abhorant (such as slavery), many of this society strive for what is right and proper. This cannot be dictated from the bench, nor should it be. It is a solecism for the courts to assign this job to themselves. (I hope I used the word properly. lol.)

In what manner do I refer? The raising of children (women almost always are awarded the children in a divorce), schooling (mandatory), savings (we pay for banks stupidity?!), taxation (without representation-borders), burden sharing (social security), and many other social issues. I cannot find in the Constitution anywhere that it proscribes our rights to the court.

That does not stop them, however, from taking land owned by a United States citizen and giving it to an illegal alien because...the illegal was trespassing, he was detained for the ICE, and he now has PTSD? GOOD!

Let him have it! Maybe it will teach him not to do such things. No. The property owner is in jail, the illegal lives in California while owning a 70 acre ranch in Texas. Is this justice in your eyes? Throw the bums out! (Both the Justices and the illegals.) Have a nice day.
